but we all knew him as Jack Palance, the gritty and tough bad guy in movies diverse in theme and timeframe. He died of natural causes on Saturday morning at the age of 87. From an Oscar nomination for Shane in 1953, to an Oscar Award in 1992 for City Slickers, Palance showed little acting range despite the spread in time. I will always rememberhis one-armed puchups on Oscar night a fewyears back when Billy Crystal questioned his toughness.
