Our 2005 Champion is....
Mood:  celebratory
Topic: Standings
GARY H!!!
MAZELTOV!

I will remember 2005's game because of Gary's amazing 2-in-1 bonus in May, and the rest of us maintained the non-lead dog view for the following seven months!

Here are the final standings in an amazingly close finish!

1) Gary 235 (Pope, Thurl Ravenscroft, Eddie Albert with TR and EA getting Acadian Bonus)
2) Mark 230 (Pope, King Fahd, William Rehnquist)
3) Larry 186 (Pope, Albert, Rosa Parks)
4) Vince 178 (Pope, Luther Vandross)
5) Robert 167 (2004 champ) (Pope, James Doohan)
6) Brian G. 145 (Pope, Arthur Miller
7) Jeff P. 116 (Rehnquist, Parks)
8) Dan 82 (Pope)
9) Worms Meat 82 (Pope)

Everyone else rang up a big goose egg. No terrorist bonus nor the longest filmography bonus given since no film actors passed on any list.

As agreed in the beginning, second place gets money back, winner gets the rest!

Turkey and Stuffing Update
Topic: Death NOT Score
Looks like the venerable group missed another big celebrity...

Pat Morita, known to many as Mr. Miyagi from Karate Kid, waxed off at age 73 on Thanksgiving Day.

and irony of ironies, Ruth Siems, the inventor of Stove Top Stuffing, passed away on Thanksgiving day as well. There are just too many punchlines for Ms. Siems to address, so i would LOVE IT if some of you would chip in with your best shot.

Larry moves forward on the bus.
Mood:  celebratory
Topic: Death Score
Coroner Larry moves up to number three in the 2005 Mortfolio with his 1.6 kicker on the death of Rosa Parks today.

Rosa Parks passed away at age 92, and her body lay in state in the Capital Rotunda as an honor to her part in the Civil Rights movement.
It isn't hard to find stories pointing to Rosa Parks' questionable past or her motives, but that is the fodder for a much different website.

For this site, here is the scoring - (125-92)=33, but Larry had the 1.6 confidence kicker, jeff the 1.0...add on the 15 point bonus to each for the Duo hit, and here is your new leaderboard!

1) Gary 235
2) Mark 230
3) Larry 186
4) Vince 178
5) Robert 167 (2004 champ)
6) Brian 145
7) Jeff P. 116
8) Dan 82
9) Brian 82

There goes the Judge...There goes the Judge
Mood:  celebratory

Chief Justice William Rehnquist passed away Saturday night at age 81, interrupting the late night football programming on ABC. Does ABC News really think that people watching the last five minutes of Virginia Tech - NC State really want a "Breaking News Alert"? Quite pompous of ABC, methinks.

Shared hit 15 point bonus, vaulting Miller (1.8) to a close second at about the same time his beloved Hokies sealed the game. Pilate (1.5) on the board for the second year in a row.

Standings update!!!

1) Gary 235
2) Mark 230
3) Vince 178
4) Robert 167
5) Brian 145
6) Larry 118
7) Dan 82
8) Brian 82
9) Pilate 68

Royalty continues to be at risk...
Mood:  celebratory
Topic: Death Score
Another unique hit, another ruler!!!!

Mark Miller scores a well-informed unique hit with the death of King Fahd, ruler of the House of Saud.

Reports say 84 years old (like Arafat, no birth certificate in existence), so give Mark...

(125 - 84)*1.2 kicker for 49.2 -> 50, plus 25 pt unique hit bonus = 75pts.

add to his other royal passing, Pope John Paul, and we have a total of 149 and a new coroner in fourth place with five months to go.

NEW STANDINGS

Gary 235
Vince 178
Robert 167
Mark 149
Brian 145
Larry 118
Two tied at 82

Star Trek's Captain Scotty, James Doohan passes away at age 85.
WE HAVE ANOTHER SOLO HIT!!!!
Robert had Scotty in the 1.5 confidence kicker slot for 82 points.
(125-85) x 1.5 = 60 + 25 Unique Hit = 85
Add that to Robert's Pope pick, and he is achieving warp speed up the charts to #3!

CURRENT STANDINGS Gary 235
Vince 178
Robert 167
Brian 145
Larry 118
Two tied at 82

Luther Vandross solo hit and a young'un
Mood:  celebratory
Topic: Death Score
Vince moves into second with the solo hit for the 54-year old Luther Vandross, who passed away Friday.
"I had heard that Vandross had a stroke last year, and while it was very sad for the world of music, I did make a note to myself to include him on the 2005 roster." said Vince. Vandross was in the 1.0 (lack of) confidence kicker spot, so just 71 for the age and 25 pt bonus for the solo to total 96.
CURRENT STANDINGS
Gary 235
Vince 178
Brian 145
Larry 118
Three tied at 82

"It's hard for me to believe this is the end," said the veteran preacher Billy Graham who is suffering from Parkinson's disease, fluid on the brain and prostate cancer, and has used a walker since a pelvic fracture in 2004. Your caretaker and Jeff Story are the only ones with the foresight to see the imminent dirtnap. To his credit, Graham has never weathered criticism of intolerance or embezzlement. Here is a link to his "fundamentals"

Anne Bancroft, well known to many as sexy Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate (Coo-coo-ca-choo, said Paul and Art), passes away at age 73...another miss by the 2005 Mortfolio group.
